Earlier in May saw the announcement that the Renaissance Club, on Scotland’s Golf Coast will host the Genesis Scottish Open until 2030. From Bernd Wiesberger’s victory in 2019, the event has grown into one of the most popular and sought after titles on both the DP World and PGA Tours. Co-sanctioned since 2022, the Rolex Series event is a firm fixture in the tour schedules, one week prior to the Open.
The course continues to develop. Designed by Tom Doak, and opened in 2008, new coastal holes were added in 2013, whilst Padraig Harrington has helped refine the challenge. 2026 will also see a rerouting, as the 6th hole becomes the 15th, adding extra excitement to the final stretch.
With illustrious victors returning including local favourite Bob MacIntyre, past Wee Wonders Champion, Aaron Rai, and Grand Slam winning Rory McIlroy, 2026 is sure to be another classic. The eyes of the golf world will once again be on Scotland’s Golf Coast – The Home of the Scottish Open.
The Genesis Scottish Open is the perfect event to showcase the global stature of Scotland’s Golf Coast, with The Renaissance Club a founding member. The East Lothian coast, located a short distance to the east of Edinburgh, stretches 30 miles along the Forth from Edinburgh to Dunbar.

There are 21 golf courses, all within 30 minutes’ drive of each other. From the Open venues of Muirfield and Musselburgh Links, to the famous West Links of North Berwick, and from the quintessential links of Dunbar to the historic Links Cup at Royal Musselburgh, the selection of course is vast.
Malcom Duck, of Scotland’s Golf Coast, commented, “Another five years of the Genesis Scottish Open is fantastic news for the region. The profile of Scotland’s Golf Coast has grown enormously over the past six years, and the region proudly welcomes golfers from far and wide. The four days of the tournament give Scotland’s Golf Coast amazing exposure and celebrates golf in the region.
“The economic impact of golf tourism to the region is crucial. It’s thanks to the hard work and commitment of the greenkeepers, hoteliers, restaurateurs, and PGA Professionals that make Scotland’s Golf Coast one of the best golf destinations in the world.”
The towns of Aberlady, Gullane, North Berwick and Dunbar offer a big selection of places to drink and eat. Off the golf course there is plenty to see and do, with beaches, castles, distilleries and museums. Meanwhile accommodation is varied and plentiful.

The rolling hills of the Lammermuirs give way to lush farmland, before hitting the links, the beaches and the Forth beyond. With its easterly location, the drier and sunnier microclimate make Scotland’s Golf Coast a must for golfers.
Behind the scenes, the team has been working hard to launch a new Scotland’s Golf Coast website. With improved functionality, more information and images, the website has everything a golfer needs to know.
The comprehensive Golfer’s Guide can be downloaded, whilst the website has links and contact details for all the members, as well as the opportunity to enquire about golf packages. Scotland’s Golf Coast’s social media keeps the golfer up to date with the very best golf course photography.
