Work has begun to restore Links House at Royal Dornoch to become one of Scotland’s top small golfing hotels. The eight bedroom luxury house will open its doors in spring 2013.
Links House overlooks the 1st Tee of Royal Dornoch Golf Club, the Championship course that has a well-deserved reputation as one of the world’s top 20 golf courses. Links House will offer visitors a luxury retreat and ensure that those who have made one of golf’s ultimate pilgrimages are rewarded with top class service, facilities and surroundings.
Links House was built in 1843 by the architect James Rae as the Old Free Manse, the restoration is being sympathetically managed by Inverness-based architectural practise, Maxwell and Company.
The house is owned by American golf enthusiasts Todd and Liz Warnock. Todd and Liz have been regular visitors to Dornoch in the Scottish Highlands for many years, having initially been attracted by the ancient links golf course and Todd is a member of Royal Dornoch Golf Club.
Todd and Lizhave become so attached to the spirit of the town and its fantastic location that they have made an investment in developing Links House as an 8 bedroom Country House Hotel. Links House will be set up with golfers needs in mind and will even benefit from a putting green within the grounds. Outside the golfing season Links House will be available to rent on an exclusive use basis.
Links House looks to attract golfers from all over the world to enjoy world class golf at Royal Dornoch, The Nairn Golf Club and Castle Stuart Golf Links. Staff at Links House will also hope to educate visitors to enjoy golfing gems such as Brora Golf Club and Tain Golf Club. Non golfers will not be left wanting with world class country sports, scenery, culture, wildlife and outdoor activities on the door step.
As work commenced on the property, speaking from his Chicago home town, Todd Warnock said: “Links House at Royal Dornoch is about a journey to create a perfect retreat and experience. After many years of visiting Dornoch to play golf it’s become a special place for Liz and I. We have so much interest in the new development from international visitors, tourism industry and tour operators, we feel confident Links House will be a great success.”
Beverley Navarro, General Manager of Links House and herself a keen golfer, brings international experience in managing customer services to the development. Excited about the year ahead Beverley said: “I believe passionately in the further development of luxury accommodation to enhance the experience of visitors to Dornoch. I look forward to seeing the exciting design and development work come to fruition, working with the community and our partners in the tourism industry, as well as to welcoming visitors in spring 2013.”
