2024 World Golf Awards winners announced

World Golf Awards has unveiled this year’s top golf tourism organisations, clubs, resorts and venues at its 11th annual Gala Ceremony in Madeira.

Votes for the awards were cast by golf industry professionals, the media and the public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.

Portugal enjoyed a strong showing for 2024, claiming awards for ‘Best Golf Destination’, and Terras da Comporta claiming ‘Best Golf Course’.

Trump Turnberry was voted ‘Best Golf Hotel’, while Heritage Golf Club’s La Réserve, Mauritius claimed ‘Best New Golf Course’. LIV Golf Adelaide, which was held at The Grange Golf Club, was once again recognised as ‘Best Golf Event of the Year’.

Costa Navarino in Greece was a double winner on the night, picking up awards for ‘Best Golf Venue’ and ‘Best Clubhouse’, while there was a Lifetime Achievement Award for Spanish professional golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez.

Apes Hill Barbados also was a big winner at this year’s awards, winning ‘World’s Best Eco-Friendly Golf Facility’ and the ‘Caribbean’s Best Golf Course’. The luxury sport, lifestyle and real estate destination was also named ‘Caribbean’s Best Golf Clubhouse’, ‘Barbados’ Best Golf Course’ and ‘World’s Best Golf Academy Venue’.

INFINITUM in Spain, recent host of the DP World Tour’s Final Stage Qualifying School, retained its crown as ‘Europe’s Best Golf Real Estate Venue’, while the club’s Ruins layout was named ‘Europe’s Best 9-Hole Course’.

The Catalan resort has built and sold more than 200 villas and luxury apartments on its estate in recent years, with the third phase of its ambitious residential project, comprising of 90 two, three and four-bedroom apartments, currently under construction across prime locations at the resort. All 150 properties in phase one sold out within a year, and phase two – a selection of luxury apartments and villas designed by leading architectural firm Batlle I Roig – is on track for similar sales success.

Quinta do Lago in Portugal won the ‘World’s Best Golf Real Estate Venue’ award, acknowledging the resort as the ideal setting to buy property to both enjoy life while simultaneously guaranteeing a return on investment. Recognition also came following the launch of the latest land initiative in the Quinta do Lago masterplan, North Grove – an opportunity for 13 buyers to create their own property in the Algarve’s most sought-after destination.

This year’s edition of World Golf Awards marked a global gathering of golf industry leaders, with pioneers and key figures travelling from across the world to attend. The prize-giving ceremony at Savoy Palace, marked the climax of a two-day golf itinerary sampling the best of Madeira’s golf courses.

Madeira’s growing status as a golf hub was reinforced with the title for ‘World’s Best Emerging Golf Destination’. Palheiro Golf collected ‘World’s Best Panoramic Clubhouse’ and Club de Golfe Santo Da Serra won double honours in collecting ‘World’s Best Par 3 Hole’ and ‘World’s Best Sustainable Water Capture Course System’.
