Pilar Golf in Buenos Aires, Argentina has been chosen to host the 2023 Women’s Amateur Latin America Championship presented by The R&A and ANNIKA Foundation from 16-19 November.

The third edition of the championship will feature the region’s most talented women’s amateur golfers and the winner will earn exemptions into the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews, The Chevron Championship at The Club at Carlton Woods and The Amundi Evian Championship at Evian Resort Golf Club in 2024.

Mark Lawrie, Director – Latin America and the Caribbean at The R&A, said: “Pilar Golf is a renowned venue that will present a tough but fair challenge for the leading women’s amateur golfers from Latin America. We look forward to staging another memorable championship there and seeing who emerges from a talented field to become champion and earn exemptions into three major championships.”

Annika Sörenstam commented: “I look forward to getting back to Pilar Golf for the third edition of the Women’s Amateur Latin America. It has been so enjoyable to work with The R&A and very gratifying to see the prestige of this event grow in the region in such a short period of time. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

“The mission of our Foundation is to develop and empower the next generation of women around the world through the game of golf,” said Rob Ohno, President and CEO of the ANNIKA Foundation. We strive to provide young women with unique opportunities and inspire them to pursue their dreams. We are grateful to The R&A for our partnership to conduct this special event for these talented athletes.”

The Women’s Amateur Latin America championship presented by The R&A and the ANNIKA Foundation follows the successful introduction of the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific championship by The R&A in 2018. Its aim is to strengthen the pathway to the very highest levels of golf by providing a platform for the region’s best women’s amateur golfers to compete against each other.

The format for the championship will be 72 holes of stroke play over the Blue and White course at Pilar Golf and 60 players will be invited to participate based on their position in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). The winner also receives an exemption into the Women’s Amateur Championship at Royal Birkdale in 2024.
