TrackMan, one of the pioneers of launch monitor technology, is continuing to support the PGA Training Academy by providing use of its equipment up until 2018.

The device is used during residentials at PGA headquarters and is used in modules on club fitting and in sports science due to the accurate nature of the data it provides.

TrackMan measures smash factor, spin rate, launch angle, carry, club speed, dynamic loft, attack angle, club path, carry, ball speed and face angle.

Jack Wells, The PGA’s education officer for sports science and golf coaching, said: “We use TrackMan in the Foundation Degree programme and AGMS residentials.

“From a sports science perspective it’s really useful because we can show how warming up properly can affect factors such as club head speed and distance.

“In terms of giving us raw data and what is happening with the club and ball etcetera it is really useful and extremely accurate.”

The device is also used in the custom fitting elements of the course, showing how different specifications can impact on the golfer, and highlighting its role in ensuring golfers are fitted with the best clubs.

Emanuel Frauenlob, vice president sales & marketing at TrackMan, said: “We are very excited to continue our partnership with The PGA. Having access to TrackMan’s latest product – TrackMan 4 – and benefiting from its dual radar technology, will add even further value to The PGA’s training programme. It will also further strengthen its members’ pivotal role in helping golfers at all levels to unleash their potential.”
