Modest! Golf backs England Under 18 Championship

1.59pm 21st June 2021 - Sponsorship & Events

England Golf has announced a three-year agreement with Modest! Golf Management to help support and promote the new English Under 18 Championship.

Modest! Golf, which is owned by musician and golf enthusiast Niall Horan, is passionate about backing junior golf in all its forms. By working together with the governing body for amateur golf in England over the next three years, Modest! Golf has further demonstrated its total commitment to taking the game to new and younger audiences.

The inaugural English Under 18 Championship takes place at Farnham Golf Club in Surrey from 25-27 June – with boys and girls competing together for the first time, in the same championship, for a single trophy. As an extra incentive for competitors, Modest Golf will provide the leading boy and girl golfers from the championship with an exclusive invitation to a Challenge Tour or LPGA/LET event.

Horan commented: “We are delighted to work with England Golf on such an exciting tournament celebrating the very best in up-and-coming male and female golfing talent. The ethos behind the tournament perfectly aligns with everything we stand for at Modest Golf and we thank Farnham Golf Club for hosting such a ground-breaking event.”

For the inaugural championship, 66 boys and 66 girls will compete over 72 holes of stroke play to decide the single winner.

The event is part of England Golf’s modern approach to the club and amateur game and the championship was hugely oversubscribed when bookings went live in April.

James Crampton, director of championships at England Golf, said: “We can’t wait to stage this inaugural event with the backing of Modest! Golf. We both share the same values when it comes to promoting junior golf and their energy and expertise in this field is something we are keen to harness.

“The buzz around the championship has been incredible since it was first announced last December. It has caught the imagination of the players and has helped to create a hugely positive vibe around the junior golf scene in this country. Farnham Golf Club has put its heart and soul into the planning for the event and it promises to be one of the most memorable – and keenly-contested – championships of the season.”

England Golf will provide extensive coverage of the event on its website and social channels. Content Live will also be on site to stream live coverage of the championship via Farnham Golf Club and England Golf’s social media platforms.
