DP World Golf Ball Hunter Gives Golf Balls A Second Life

12.14pm 6th June 2022 - Sponsorship & Events

European golf ball diver Nicky Dorfel has continued his quest to give golf balls a second life in grassroots golf by diving the lakes at the Green Eagle Golf Course near Hamburg Germany ahead of the Porsche European Open on the DP World Tour.

The Dutchman, who arrived at the Green Eagle Golf Course in a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, has been supporting DP World’s mission to collect golf balls across the DP World Tour season to help drive the game globally and use their logistical expertise to collect and move them around in a unique repurposed shipping container.

Travelling through DP World’s global logistics infrastructure and network, the DP World Golf Ball Container will feature at several tournaments throughout the remainder of the season, including further DP World Tour stops in Sweden, Germany, England, Spain and Dubai.

Nicky Dortel collected over 500 balls at Green Eagles Golf Course

Nicky collected over 500 golf balls at Green Eagle and has now donated over 30,000 balls to the collection, having previously dived at DP World Tour stops in Belgium and the Netherlands amongst other venues.

Fans, players, and spectators are also being encouraged to donate their unwanted golf balls in order to give them a second life, with a number of prizes to be won at each stop.

The balls will be distributed to grassroots golf projects at the end of the season to drive golf further and encourage more people to play the game.
