Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa, part of the Macdonald Hotels Group, has been announced as the host course for the highly anticipated British Blind Golf Open, taking place from 7- 9 July, 2025.

This international event, organised by Blind Golf Scotland, will bring together 36 visually impaired golfers from across Scotland, England, Ireland, Sweden, Germany, Austria and Spain to compete in a showcase of skill, determination, and inclusivity.

The British Blind Golf Open promises two days of intense competition following a dedicated practice day. Participants across all blind categories (B1, B2, B3, and B4) will compete in either strokeplay or stableford formats.

This year, organisers are particularly pleased to note an increase in women competing, highlighting the growing diversity within the sport. Spectators are encouraged to attend the event, especially those interested in joining Blind Golf Scotland or becoming a sighted guide.

The four-star Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa has been chosen as the host venue due to its exceptional suitability and previous successful collaborations with Blind Golf Scotland. The on-course accommodation significantly enhances accessibility for blind golfers, eliminating the need for daily travel.

Macdonald Hotels Golf Sales Director Jeff Mills, and the entire golf professional team are well-known for their understanding of the needs of visually impaired guests, ensuring rooms are allocated conveniently close to key facilities, such as reception, dining, the bar, and the golf course itself.

Jeff said: “We are incredibly proud and honoured to welcome the British Blind Golf Open to Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa. Our team is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all golfers.

“We’ve built a strong relationship with Blind Golf Scotland over the years, and we’re committed to ensuring this prestigious international event is a memorable success for everyone involved.”

The challenging yet accommodating golf course at Cardrona is well-suited for visually impaired players, with the golf professional team readily taking advice on pin positions to ensure fair play. Its easy accessibility by road, rail, and air also makes it an ideal location for international participants.

Blind Golf Scotland, established in 1982 and recognised by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, is an associate member of the International Blind Golf Association. Its core mission is to make golf accessible to individuals with visual challenges. The organisation actively provides funding for coaching and organises tournaments, fostering social interaction, physical activity, and building confidence.

Each player is supported by a sighted guide who assists with course layout, distances, and obstacles. Blind Golf Scotland is continuously seeking new players of all skill levels and dedicated guides.
