The Professional Golfers‘ Association (PGA) has signed a new deal with one of the world’s leading soft drinks bottlers and distributors, as part of a lucrative sponsorship relationship worth an estimated six-figure sum.
In a new three-year contract, Coca-Cola Enterprises Limited (CCE) is to be the title sponsor of the ‘Powerade‘ PGA Assistants‘ Championship for 2004, 2005 and 2006. The 2004 championship will be held at Coventry Golf Club at the end of September.
This latest sponsorship deal has been secured following the success of the existing commercial relationship between the PGA and CCE, which was formed in 1998.
Since then, pros across the country have been able to take advantage of soft drinks deliveries direct to their shops with the option of installing a cooler to merchandise the products to their full potential.
The PGA’s commercial director, Mike Gray, said: “We are delighted that CCE has decided to expand its involvement with the PGA and are sure that our members will join us in welcoming their high profile presence at the ‘Powerade‘ PGA Assistants‘ Championship.
“The relationship has demonstrated to CCE and ourselves just how we can successfully work together to mutual benefit. We‘re really looking forward to strengthening our links with CCE even further over the next three years,” added
leisure controller of CCE, Max Franck. “Sponsoring the Powerade PGA Assistants‘ Championship felt like a natural progression for CCE following the encouraging take up of our products by members of the association and golfers across the country. We hope that the next three years of our relationship will be even more successful than the last five.”
