‘Continuous Auction’ offer from Old Golf Auctions

12.39am 27th August 2009 - Salesroom & Memorabilia

Old Golf Auctions has announced the launch of an entirely new initiative which they are convinced will prove to be highly attractive for buyers and sellers.

Prospective sellers now have the opportunity to list any golf-related item, of any value, for just £0.99 (approx $1.50). It can be a ball marker, a long nosed club, a new set of irons, that new driver that no longer works, a golf buggy, tournament entrance tickets and so on all for just £0.99. There is no charge for having a set reserve.

“Unlike our Premier Auctions, this new Continuous Auction site will be operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” says Graham Rowley of Old Golf Auctions. “It will allow prospective sellers to list items for sale entirely themselves, without having to consign them physically via us. It’s a similar process to listing an item on eBay, but we think our system is a little simpler. Not only is it simple, it’s extremely cost-effective.”

Sellers pay a listing fee of 99p including one free image, with additional images being charged at 20p each (maximum of six images). There is no additional charge for applying a reserve. Items can be listed for 5, 7 or 10 days at no extra cost.

“The standard commission rate is a highly competitive 10%,” says Graham, “but if you elect to have a reserve of £50 or greater, you can choose to pay an upfront commission rate of 5% of your chosen reserve amount, with nothing further to pay when the item sells – this alone could save you a small fortune.

“Our payment mechanism for this new site is Google Checkout. It’s extremely easy to set up an account by linking it to one of your credit/debit cards and it operates in exactly the same way as PayPal, with which many of you will be familiar. Google Checkout’s charges are very competitive – just 15p per transaction plus 2% of the transaction value (debit or credit), i.e. lower than conventional credit card charges. It is totally secure.”

On the completion of a sale, once the buyer and seller have paid the amounts due for the commission, the seller will be advised of the buyer‘s contact details for payment for the purchased lot

There are already lots of items to bid on within this new Continuous Auction site. “Why not take a look www.oldgolfauctions.com/oga/continuous ?,” concludes Graham. “Better still, why not see for yourself just how easy it is to use our new site by listing an item right now!

“Just go to www.oldgolfauctions.com and follow the simple instructions. Of course, in the unlikely event that you have any problems listing an item or setting up your Google Checkout account, just e-mail us at enquiries@oldgolfauctions.com or telephone us on +44 (0) 1384 261616. We’ll be delighted to help.”
