Motocaddy maintains top spot in Germany

4.46pm 13th June 2023 - Retail

For the fifth straight year and since records began, Motocaddy has been named as the top selling electric trolley brand in Germany by unit sales, according to sales figures for 2022 released by golf industry research specialists Golf Datatech.

The figures reaffirm the brand’s position as the clear global market-leader in the electric trolley sector, following recent news naming them as the UK’s top-selling brand during the same period.

Datatech reported that Motocaddy sold 80% more electric trolleys than its nearest competitor in Germany and grew its market share by 20% compared to 2021. Unit sales of the premium hi-tech and reliable Motocaddy models were also up on the previous year by nearly 14%.

“To be named as Germany’s top selling electric trolley brand for the fifth straight year is an incredible achievement,” said Thorsten Kück, Managing Director of Motocaddy EMEA, who has decades of experience in the German golf industry. “Motocaddy is now an extremely popular brand amongst German golfers and having been in the industry for so long, I know the hard work it takes to produce quality and reliable products year-on-year. To be the number one brand for so long in a competitive category is testament to the R&D team and everyone involved in bringing the products to market.”

The Motocaddy EMEA team is situated in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia in a 350sqm facility offering warehouse and office space for the ‘all-German’ customer care and sales support team providing market-leading service along with technical and repairs staff. Motocaddy also has an additional 3PL location in Nettetal offering additional capacity for up to 15,000 trolleys, accessories and bags each year.

The brand dominance continued with Motocaddy also being revealed as the top brand for both on-course and off course retailers. This is matched by the news electric trolley revenue for the year was up by almost 10% compared to 2021. This also saw the brand grow 16% in sales share during the same period.

“Working closely with the on and off course retailers is extremely important to Motocaddy, and it’s great to see the hard work put in by the sales team and everyone involved pay off,” said Thorsten. “We certainly won’t rest on our laurels though. We want to keep moving forward producing the best, most reliable trolleys on the market for all German golfers to enjoy,” he added.

Motocaddy’s top-selling models of last year were the M5 GPS DHC, the M1 DHC, and the new S1, which along with the S1 DHC, saw sales grow by 165%.

“The sales performance in Germany has been outstanding and credit goes to Thorsten and his team for leading the charge,” said John Helas, Motocaddy CEO. “The global strength of the brand is also flourishing as we saw our UK unit share increase by over a third (35%) compared to the previous year and we sold almost 12% more models than our nearest competitor. We’ve also been the UK’s top-selling push cart brand four years running with 50% more sales revenue than the brand in second place.”
