Huxley green helps keep Woad on a winning roll

Six years after installation, a Huxley home putting green continues to provide Lottie Woad with a year-round practice facility.

When Nick Woad had a Huxley Golf putting green installed at the family home in 2020, he wanted to give his daughter, Lottie, then a rising star in the amateur game, the opportunity to practise her putting whenever she wanted, whatever the weather or time of year.

Six years on, the green has remained an important part of Lottie’s development and following a recent maintenance and refresh by Huxley Golf, the surface is performing as well as it did when it was first installed.

Reflecting on the impact the green has had on her practice, Lottie, who is now ranked seventh in the Rolex Women’s Golf World Ranking just 14 months after turning professional, said: “I was very fortunate that my parents installed our Huxley green in 2020. It meant that I had a brilliant putting surface to practise my putting during the Covid-related restrictions during 2020/21.

“I also had a great green to use throughout the winter and during bad weather. I could also easily practise in the evening after college, using torchlight on winter evenings. It was great for my development to be able to work on my putting all year round.”

The ability to practise at home has continued to be valuable as Lottie’s golfing career has developed. Now a three-time tour winner, and a member of Europe’s winning 2026 Solheim Cup team, she continues to make use of the green whenever she is home. For other golfers considering installing a home practice green, Lottie is equally positive about the benefits.

“If you’re a keen golfer, with a strong desire to improve, and you’re in the position to be able to get a Huxley green, I would strongly recommend doing so. It would provide you with a year-round realistic surface on which to practise your putting.”

After more than six years of use, Huxley Golf returned to the Woad family home in 2026 to carry out maintenance and refresh the green, cleaning up the surface and restoring it to its original condition.

Nick was delighted with the result, saying: “The refresh of our green undertaken by Huxley has made it exactly the same as when it was installed over six years ago, they did a great job. “The green surface runs as quick and true as it did when we first got the green.”

Lottie was also impressed when she returned home briefly between her summer events and saw the refreshed green.

“It was a great surprise when I got home to see our green looking good as new. It was great to have it to practise on before heading to Evian.”
