The National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, announces the appointment of experienced teaching professional Neil Harvey to the role of Head Coach. The newly created position will see him spearhead the growth of the highly acclaimed National Golf Centre Academy, one of the UK’s most important teaching facilities.

Neil, 45, who turned professional in 1991, joins The National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, with a reputation as one of Yorkshire’s finest golf coaches.

He was previously Club Professional at Headingley Golf Club, Leeds, and has worked with some of the UK’s top amateur and professional players. Neil is also renowned for creating ground-breaking youth development programmes that have subsequently produced some of the country’s most promising young golfers.

Commenting on his new role, Neil Harvey said: “I’m hugely passionate about giving every visitor to the National Golf Centre Academy a highly personal and memorable experience that will help them play better golf and take greater enjoyment from the sport.

“With the second-to-none facilities I have at my disposal at Woodhall Spa, I’m confident we will deliver the very highest standards of golf tuition and further enhance The National Golf Centre’s reputation as the home of English golf.”

Neil’s appointment comes at an exciting time for the Lincolnshire venue, which continues to enjoy global recognition for its Hotchkin Course – currently rated 20th in the World Top 100 Golf Courses ranking compiled by Golf World Magazine.  It is also in the final stages of launching The National Golf Centre Academy to the public, a facility that has previously only been used for elite coaching.

Richard Latham, Director of Operations at The National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, commented: “We are excited to have a teaching professional of Neil’s calibre on our team. With his drive, attention to detail and desire to give every customer a very personal and professional service, we are looking forward to significantly growing our commercial coaching business over the coming months and years.”

Neil’s work, focused on developing the teaching business for a cross-section of golf enthusiasts, from beginners through to committed amateurs, will sit alongside the work of Peter Mattsson, Director of Coaching for the English Golf Union, who oversees all coaching for national elite squads.

Richard added: “Neil’s vision for The National Golf Academy is a simple one. We aim to be regarded by all golfers, at all levels, as the number-one destination for coaching in the UK.”

Neil takes up this new role with immediate effect.
