World of Golf Master Professional Jon Woodroffe has been named The PGA in England (South)’s ‘Coach of The Year’ at a ceremony held at the prestigious Wentworth Club in Surrey earlier this month.
Selected by a panel of PGA members, the experienced golf coach – who currently leads a popular beginners class programme at the World of Golf driving range in New Malden, south-west London – was chosen as the region’s No.1 tutor ahead of hundreds of other fellow teaching professionals.
“I’m extremely honoured to receive an award like this from my fellow PGA members,” said Woodroffe, who has conducted almost 50,000 lessons during his 35-year career. “My ambition has always been to encourage more people to play the game and enjoy golf in an environment where it is fun to learn. This award is very special to me,” he added.
In over three decades, Woodroffe has introduced more than 20,000 players to golf, received the Golf Foundation Burroughs Award for coaching disadvantaged children and, more recently, taken up a role to head Golf Development at World of Golf. He has also been awarded the status of Advanced Fellow of the PGA, a level attained by only 1% of British PGA Professionals.
