Graeme Nesbitt has been appointed as General Manager at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Knutsford, Cheshire, ahead of the opening of an 81 bedroom luxury hotel at the resort in March 2012.

Graeme joins The Mere from Cameron House where he held the post of Resort General Manager. He has also previously worked for Malmaison, Birmingham and Edinburgh and St Andrews Bay Golf Resort & Spa.

Following a £15 million redevelopment including the addition of a Health Club & Spa in January 2011, an 81 bedroom hotel is due to open at the resort on March 3rd 2012. The redevelopment will also include refurbishment of conferencing suites and the atrium which is located in the resort’s historic main building. The atrium will reopen in March and include a Brasserie style restaurant and cocktail bar.

Graeme commented on his move to The Mere, “I see my move to The Mere as a fantastic opportunity to create something special which I don’t believe currently exists in the North of England. We already have world class facilities here for golf, spa and conferencing and the addition of the hotel I’m confident will ensure The Mere develops into one of theUK’s top destination resorts.”

The 81 bedroom hotel has been designed by  Cheshirebased consultancy Mather & Co and is currently in the construction process which is being managed by Pochin’s PLC. Accommodation will comprise of a mix of guest rooms and suites, situated alongside the resort’s historic main building and overlooking the gardens, golf course and lake.

Mark Boler CEO of the Mere Golf Resort and Spa commented, “Graeme is the perfect person to help us drive The Mere forward with his experience, which is a perfect match for our goal to create a world class destination resort.”
