The chief marketing officer of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America reports on the achievement of Rhett Evans reaching the summit of Mount Everest

“Rhett Evans, the CEO of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America goes to work every day for the organization’s more than 20,300 members.

“He’s used to taking on various challenges, as the GCSAA CEO and as a hobby is an avid mountain climber.

“But he doesn’t just climb any mountain. He takes on the highest peaks in the world and recently embarked on a 45 day journey to take on his biggest challenge, climbing Mount Everest.

“On Friday, after enduring several setbacks including an injury to his arm and an injury to his leg requiring a helicopter to airlift him for medical attention, he persevered and was able to reach the summit at the “top of the world”, the top of Mount Everest.

“Throughout the journey, he carried his organization’s flag as well as GCSAA patches on his outerwear as a symbol of taking all of the organization’s 20,300 plus members on his climb to recognize the incredible journey superintendents take every day in their Essential Role delivering a great day of golf for golfers around the world.

“When he reached the 29,029 feet summit he unfolded the GCSAA flag he carried to celebrate the occasion with all members around the globe.

“An incredible journey and incredible story of perseverance, and camaraderie with his members and the entire golf industry who have been following him on social media and cheering him on.

“We congratulate Evans on this achievement.”
