The TGI Golf Partnership, Europe’s leading golf retail services group, owned by PGA Professionals, has announced Callaway Senior Vice President of R&D, Dr Alan Hocknell as the keynote speaker at its annual Business Conference.

The event, free for all TGI Golf Partners, will be held at Marriott Worsley Park, Manchester, from February 4-5, 2014, and gives the group’s PGA Professionals the chance to further their business knowledge and learn from leading lights from within, and outside of, the golf industry.

Dr Hocknell is the first of a number of expert speakers to be announced, with more to follow in the coming weeks, creating what is set to be another insightful conference for PGA Professionals.

Eddie Reid, TGI Golf Managing Director, said: “Securing a figurehead of the calibre of Dr Alan Hocknell to give the keynote presentation shows the high regard in which the industry holds this event.

“The TGI Golf Business Conference gives our Partners from across the UK and Ireland the opportunity to come together under one roof and learn from some of the brightest minds within the golf industry and the business world.

“I’m sure our Partners will find Dr Hocknell fascinating, the work he has done with Callaway over the years, leading the R&D department is incredible, developing some of the most technologically advanced equipment on the market. Rest assured, this will not be a sales pitch, his presentation will focus on golf technology and how it has evolved.”

Dr Hocknell has worked with Callaway since 1998, holding a number of positions before moving into his current role in 2009 and is primarily responsible for charting Callaway’s product innovation and design strategies across all product categories.

His Doctorate degree is in Engineering Mechanics from LoughboroughUniversity and he also has a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and Management from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London.

He said: “I am looking forward to sharing some of Callaway’s heritage of golf club design and innovation with the TGI Golf Partners – including the research and development that has gone behind our products, to bespoke work with Tour Professionals.”
