Steve Bird is the latest addition to Foremost Golf’s rapidly expanding Business Development Team.

Bird has been promoted to the role of Business Development Consultant – East and will report to David Murch, Foremost’s National Business Development Manager, as part of an existing seven-strong Team, headed by Peter Durham, Foremost’s Head of Membership Services, and also comprising Charlie Hartley (Business Development Consultant – North), Kevin Stables (Business Development Consultant – Scotland & Ireland), Matthew Lacey (Management Services Manager) and Leanne Lewin (Membership Services Manager).

The role of the Business Development Team is use their unrivalled experience to pass business advice on to Foremost members and to work with members to formulate innovative retail strategies that will help them build their businesses and compete successfully against their high street and on-line rivals.

Bird initially joined Foremost Golf after successful spells working for Acushnet Europe and as Retail Manager of the Direct Golf Store in Cambridge. In the latter post he was responsible for sales, profitability, cost control, staff development and motivation, marketing and range performance. During his tenure annual retail turnover at the store rose to over £1.5 million.

Since joining Foremost he has worked with members on retail, coaching and membership development through the ProShopRevolution programme and has also fulfilled other key roles, including CPD tutoring at PGA Seminars, The Golf Show and Foremost’s Spring Workshops.

“We are delighted to announce that Steve has agreed to join our Business Development team,” said Durham. “He brings to seven the number of experts working within the team and his expertise will expand the already unparalleled depth of business knowledge contained within the group.”

Durham is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading retail experts and has overseen a rapid expansion of Foremost’s Business Development Team over the last 12 months.

The Business Development team has worked closely with members all over the country and they are also supported by the Central Administration team which helps members with the group’s bespoke Central Payment Service.

This new online process has proved invaluable for members who would rather be retailing or coaching than managing their books. It allows members to make just two payments each month to cover all purchases from Approved Suppliers which in turn will enable the Central Administration Team to manage members’ invoices and make payments on their behalf.

The Central Administration Team is headed by Manager Janette Danbrowsky, and Executives Angela Ostler and Donna Stewart.
