Diamond Golf, Europe’s leading supplier of components to PGA professionals, is pleased to announce immediate availability of the new Aerotech SteelFiber FC (Flight Control) graphite iron shafts, featuring the advanced composite technology of SteelFiber with variable tip stiffness for players looking for a higher ball trajectory.
As the world’s first perimeter-weighted golf shaft, SteelFiber adds more stability and forgiveness with every shot. It does this through the steel fiber around the perimeter creating a higher density (weight) on the shaft’s surface which in turn moves the shaft wall’s center of gravity (CG) outward, thus increasing the shaft’s Moment of Inertia (MOI).
SteelFiber golf shafts bring an entirely new technology category in iron shafts offering players the power of graphite and the stability of steel. At the core of the SteelFiber shaft is filament-wound carbon fibre which produces a seamless, uniform bending shaft at the end of the filament winding process.
The high strength-to-weight ratio of carbon fiber delivers stiffness and strength properties at lighter weights than steel, whilst the lightweight properties of graphite increase clubhead speed and promote greater distance. An additional benefit to the golfer is the vibration dampening properties of the graphite which reduces the risk of injury and player fatigue during the round.
The steel fibre material is produced using a bundle drawing process that involves multiple reductions in the diameter of stainless-steel wire. Once the wire becomes thin enough, 1,000 individual wires are bundled together and placed inside an iron tube that is further reduced until each individual steel wire is 8-microns in diameter. Each 8-micron steel filament is approximately 1/10th the diameter of a human hair. Finally, 3,000 individual filaments are combined and spun onto spools in readiness to make a golf shaft.
Available through Diamond Golf, both taper and parallel tip shafts in Stiff and Regular flexes are in stock.
All taper tip models are “Constant Weight” which means that each shaft within the set remains the same weight regardless of weight.
