Golf coverage on ‘Five Live‘

BBC Radio Five Live’s award-winning golf coverage headed by golf correspondent Iain Carter continues this summer and includes extensive live commentary of the Open from Royal Troon and the Ryder Cup, as well as commentary and reports from the US PGA Championship, the US Open and all other key tournaments.
US Open, Shinnecock Hills, Southampton, NY 17-20 June
There will be updates every 15 minutes on Five Live, and commentary on Sunday’s final round between 11pm – 12 midnight and 9pm-12am on Sports Extra on Saturday and 9:45pm – 12 midnight on Sunday. Commentary comes from Iain Carter and Alistair Bruce-Ball and expert summaries from Jay Townsend.
The 133rd Open Championship Royal Troon, Ayrshire 15 – 18 July
Throughout the Open Championship listeners will be able to hear commentary on the entire day’s play, each day, on Radio Five Live. There will be updates from the qualifying on Saturday and Sunday July 10 and 11. There will be live coverage from 9am-7pm on Thursday and Friday and 12-7pm Saturday and Sunday. John Inverdale presents coverage live from Royal Troon, whilst commentary comes from Iain Carter, Andrew Cotter, Alistair Bruce-Ball, John Murray, Mark Pougatch, Russell Fuller and Tony Adamson, and expert summaries by Jay Townsend, Paul Eales, Maureen Madill, Andrew Murray and Paul Affleck.
US PGA Championship, Whistling Straits, Kohler, Wisconsin, 12-15 August
There will be updates every 15 minutes from Wisconsin on Five Live, and commentary on Sunday’s final round between 9pm-12am. Iain Carter and Andrew Cotter will commentate and expert summariser will be Jay Townsend.
Ryder Cup, Oakland Hills, Bloomfield Hills Michigan, 17-19 September
Radio Five Live will embrace the Ryder Cup from start to finish, providing shot-by-shot coverage of each day’s play. John Inverdale will present the 35th Ryder Cup from Detroit. The commentary team will be led by Iain Carter, Andrew Cotter, Alistair Bruce Ball, John Murray and Mark Pougatch, expert summarisers are Jay Townsend, Paul Eales, Maureen Madill and Andrew Murray.
Five Live Golf returns on 7th July and will be presented by Iain Carter. The programme will go out every Wednesday at 8pm and will feature previews from the major tournaments, big name interviews and guests.
