Golf Business Quarterly welcomed by industry figures

Golf Business Quarterly, the PGA’s new golf business magazine, has received a positive reception from the golf industry.

The first edition of the magazine, which is available in print and digital formats, was published in July and focuses on women in golf, talking to key female figures in the industry and tackling the issues regarding increasing women’s participation and issues surrounding inclusivity.

Produced by 18Players, Sports Publications’s new commercial agency, on behalf of The PGA, Golf Business Quarterly is sent to PGA Members and members of its Business Management Group and Club Volunteer categories.  

A working group, comprising industry professionals from governing bodies, publishing, professional golf, market research and golf club management, is helping to shape the magazine’s direction and critique the topics that future issues will cover. 

Members of the working group include Emma Allerton, commercial director of the Ladies European Tour; Hannah Bowen, PGA Professional; Kate Brewer, R&A Brand and Campaigns Manager; Conor Dillon, Manager, The PGA in Ireland and PGA Professional; Stephen Follett, Chief Executive of London Golf Club; Mike Harris, Group Sports Editor, Future PLC; Richard Payne, Director of Sports Marketing Surveys.

Payne believes the first issue has met all of the targets that The PGA set out to achieve. “It delivers on every level being informative and engaging in one package,” he said. “Visually, you would be very happy to have the magazine in any setting and it really explores the main theme of the issue – Women in Golf.” 

Allerton added: “The PGA were looking for a rounded view of the golf business, and GBQ has certainly delivered on that front. We need to collaborate and unite in order to grow the game of golf and a journal aimed at this level can ultimately become a call to action across the golf industry.”

Richard Barker, The PGA’s Executive Director, Business Development, said: “We’re very proud to be tapping into the expertise of these industry professionals. They are validating what we are doing and helping to shape the direction of the magazine, which we believe is of great value to all golf industry professionals. We are very grateful for the time and energy they are putting into the project.” 

The next issue of GBQ is due to be released in October.
