England Golf is delighted to confirm that the Women in Golf Awards have become the latest organisation to sign the Respect in Golf pledge.
Following golf media outlet GolfMagic, the Golf Club Managers’ Association, and the International Working Group on Women and Sport, the Women in Golf Awards have pledged their commitment to ensuring everyone is treated fairly in a safe environment and feels a sense of belonging within the game of golf.
The Respect in Golf movement has seen all 60 counties and 1735 affiliated golf clubs sign the England Golf Terms of Affiliation, as the governing body looks to drive inclusivity and accessibility within the game, and stamp out discrimination.
Founder of the Women in Golf Awards, Nicole Wheatley, said: “The Women in Golf Awards are a great example of how respect can create connection and build community, which is why we are delighted to support this important campaign.
“The more we learn about people, the better we understand their needs, which in turn helps us to create an environment that is welcoming for all. Golf can be intimidating for many people, which is why I would encourage more organisations to back Respect in Golf and start to have important conversations about what we can do to make golf better.”
England Golf Communications & Data Director Ben White added: “It’s incredible to see how many organisations are backing the Respect in Golf movement. It runs through everything we do as a governing body and we’re very proud that Women in Golf Awards, amongst others, are showing their commitment to making our sport safer and more inclusive.”
