The National Turfgrass Foundation is a charitable organisation that funds or part-funds research projects, provides scholarships, and sponsors study tours to expand knowledge and understanding of turfgrass science, sports and recreational grounds maintenance, and related environmental sciences. Fund-raising activities and administration of the Foundation is carried out entirely by volunteers and no person involved receives any remuneration.
The National Turfgrass Foundation provides these opportunities to organisations and individuals who cannot otherwise, through lack of funding, family duties and responsibilities, geographic location, inappropriate academic qualifications, or other such constraints, benefit from state regulated funding or education in these fields of interest. The NTF is particularly keen to promote research and advanced education opportunities within the workplace to narrow the gap between researchers and those who ‘actually carry out the work‘.
The National Turfgrass Foundation also provides high quality education by organising and operating advanced educational conferences, seminars, workshops, and field days, and publishes technical literature to disseminate knowledge gained from the research projects, scholarships, and study tours that it funds.
Individuals who are interested in learning more of the NTF’s work, grant scheme and educational programme should contact Martyn Jones or Louise Clegg by telephone or facsimile on 01995 670675 or e-mail NTFoundation@aol.com.
