Callaway Golf Chief Club Designer Roger Cleveland flew in from California to stage a short game seminar to remember for TGI Golf Partners at the group’s annual Business Conference.
Those Partners present were treated to an insight into one of the world’s greatest short game minds as well as stories from a lifetime involved in the Tours and club design.
Cleveland entertained the crowd for two hours, answering questions on a number of topics including wedge fitting, his work with Phil Mickelson and passed on a number of short game drills to Partners.
Staged at The Belfry, the two-day event saw Partners of TGI – golf’s leading retail services groups – travel from across the UK and Ireland to enhance their business knowledge by picking up skills from expert speakers.
While Roger Cleveland was the keynote speaker on the second day of the event, Partners also had the chance to listen to gain new knowledge from financial experts from one of the world’s leading accountancy firms Mazars; a seminar on digital marketing from TGI Golf’s Head of Communications Matt Millard and Senior Retail Consultant Ian Martin; Phil Barnard of Crossover Technologies discussed business and purchasing planning while Jason MacNiven of Golf Principles ran a seminar titled Custom Fit Profitability.
Joining Cleveland on the bill for the second day was TGI Golf Managing Director Eddie Reid who discussed the golf market situation as well as staffing and recruitment, while new PGA Deputy CEO Robert Maxfield also took to the stage to take questions about the future of the organisation.
Adele McLean, TGI Golf Group Services Manager, who organised the event, said: “This is the fourth year we’ve held this even and this is by far the most successful we have run, in terms of both attendance and the feedback from our Partners.
“Our social media channels have been buzzing and the Partners left The Belfry with armed with new skills they can implement into their business immediately.”
