Three of the most innovative brands in golf, which are all clients of leading sports PR and marketing agency Sports Impact, have made the shortlist for the 2021 Sports Technology Awards due to be presented in May.

Golf trolley brand Motocaddy could see its M5 GPS DHC touchscreen model designated Innovation of the Year. The British company, based near Stansted airport, has been listed alongside the Hawk-Eye sports officiating device and the Discovery/Eurosport TV broadcast group.

Arccos, the pioneer of big data and artificial intelligence for golf based in Connecticut, has been nominated in the Best Sports Action Analytics category along with major global players like IBM and Infosys for its Arccos Caddie Strokes Gained Analytics that helps golfers set targets to improve their handicap rating.

Galvin Green’s Insula apparel range features materials made from recycled plastic bottles

Leading golf apparel brand Galvin Green has been shortlisted in the Sustainability in Sport category, based on its ground-breaking INSULA sweater range made from fabric derived from recycled plastic bottles. The progressive Swedish brand is matched up against SunGod sunglasses for athletes and the VITEC image capture company.

“It’s great to see these three client brands being recognised by the wider sporting world for introducing new technology and eco-friendly products that clearly benefit golfers,” said Sports Impact CEO John Collard. “Each one has a fighting chance of taking the category award, given the originality of their innovations and reactions from consumers.”

Motocaddy’s M5 GPS DHC trolley was launched last year as the world’s first compact-folding touchscreen GPS electric trolley, with Bluetooth connection and the pioneering downhill control function. In another world first, Arccos introduced an AI-powered GPS rangefinder that adjusts yardages in real-time, along with the Arccos Caddie Link wearable device. While INSULA sweaters form part of the ‘Green in Galvin Green’ collection that’s taken eco-friendly garments to a new level.

Recognised as an international mark of excellence, the Sports Technology Awards is a unique celebration of hi-tech enhancement across the world of sport and will be judged by a panel of 44 world renowned industry professionals and ex-sports stars.
