Golf GameBook Surpasses 1 million Registered Users

11.48am 20th August 2021 - Innovation Centre

Golf tech frontrunner Golf GameBook is a vibrant golf community with active users of the mobile application and Tournament Manager across the globe.

Now with over 1 million registered users, the community continues to grow, whilst staying true to the original vision of the company.

“Golf GameBook has always been about making golf more fun and enabling people to experience golf like never before. Hitting the 1 million registered users milestone, is truly humbling. I want to extend a warm thank you to all of our users around the world for making this happen. We will continue to work closely with our community to further enhance and improve our service. For golfers, by golfers.” says Mikko Manerus, co-founder and CEO of Golf GameBook.

Golf GameBook’s journey has taken the company from developing its own software and hardware (yes, there were two generations of physical Golf GameBook devices) to eventually evolving into a global community of active golfers. To date, over 20 million rounds of golf have been played on the Golf GameBook platform. With high levels of engagement and interaction within the community, opportunities for constant co-creation emerge.

“Our growth and evolution have resulted from active dialogue with our users. The feedback and development ideas we receive, allow us to make product iterations and develop new features that our community wants. The overall golf industry is also embracing digital solutions and we are witnessing a rapid transition into digital scorecards, live scoring and golf related social networks.” says Arto Joensuu, COO of Golf GameBook.

The way forward

As golf continues its digital transformation, the emergence, and importance, of virtual communities will continue to grow. During the 2021 season, Golf GameBook launched a first of its kind virtual tournament, the Golf GameBook Open. This initiative has brought together over 350 000 golfers across Sweden and Finland, making it one of the largest golf tournaments in the world. These social, yet safe engagement platforms will continue to pave the way for the future.
