It’s not just the crowds at Wentworth who are getting behind Rory McIlroy this week. Visitors to the award-winning 3 Hammers Golf Complex in Wolverhampton have been pitting their wits against each other in a bid to name some of the new arrivals at the venue’s Adventure Golf course – Jurassic Creek.
The first official rename is for the life-size brachiosaurus, which you can see from the main road, has recently been named ‘Roaryneckilroy’. The T-Rex, which towers over the 18-hole adventure golf course, is now known as ‘Henry’ after the 3 Hammers short course architect Sir Henry Cotton and the American palaeontologist Henry Fairfield Osborn who originally named this breed of dinosaur back in 1905.
“We’ve had a lot of fun going through the entries for these competitions, comments Ian Bonser owner of the 3 Hammers Golf Complex. “People have such vivid imaginations! Next in line for a name is the pterodactyl which sits on our waterfall and we can’t wait to see what people come up with for that!”
