QHotels Collection becomes first UK golf resort group to launch Operation 36 Programme

Industry-first initiative reinforces commitment to participation, coaching innovation and the future of the game.

The QHotels Collection has announced a new partnership with Golf Genius to become the first golf resort group in the UK to roll out the company’s innovative beginner and player development programme, Operation 36, across its collection of golf resorts.

Designed to make learning golf more simple, engaging and social, Operation 36 by Golf Genius is the world’s most successful beginner golf programme, helping create 180,000+ new golfers at 800+ venues globally through a more accessible and enjoyable introduction to the game.

Keith Pickard, Golf, Health Club & Spa Director at The QHotels Collection, said: “We’re proud to be the first golf resort group in the UK to introduce Operation 36 across our collection. Growing participation and investing in the future of the game is incredibly important to us, and this partnership aligns perfectly with that ambition.

“Golf can sometimes feel intimidating for new players, but Operation 36 provides a more accessible, social and engaging introduction to the sport, helping more people build confidence and enjoy the game from the very beginning.

“As a collection, we’re continually looking at ways to evolve the golfing experience and support the long-term growth of the sport. This programme not only benefits new golfers but also strengthens the coaching pathways available across our resorts and supports our PGA professionals in developing players for the future.”

The partnership marks another significant step in The QHotels Collection’s continued investment in the future of golf, with a focus on growing participation and breaking down barriers to entry for new audiences entering the sport.

Developed to modernise golf coaching and player development, Operation 36 encourages golfers to learn through a structured 6-level pathway, starting from 25 yards out from the hole and progressing gradually backwards to the full-length tee box as their skills improve.

Students are digitally supported throughout with an interactive mobile app and guided curriculum which has gained Operation 36 international recognition for its innovative approach, with six-time major champion Rory McIlroy backing the programme.

Nick Stocking, General Manager for Golf Genius – UK, added: “We’re delighted to partner with The QHotels Collection as the first operator to introduce Operation 36 across a UK-wide resort portfolio. Their commitment to growing the game and creating welcoming environments for new golfers makes them an ideal partner for the programme. Together, we’re looking forward to helping more people discover golf in a way that is fun, social and digitally enriched throughout.”

The programme will also support PGA professionals across the collection with a proven coaching framework, mobile app and technology platform designed to improve player engagement, retention and confidence from the very beginning of their golfing journey.
