ProDreamUSA to support Junior Tour in Scotland

Golf scholarship search and placement company ProDreamUSA has become the latest high profile industry partner to lend support to the Junior Tour, which provides talented young golfers in Scotland with a series of top-class tournaments throughout the year to compete in and develop their skills.

Played on some of the best courses in the country, the Junior Tour has been growing in stature in recent years, delivering an impressive calendar of tournaments in which Scotland’s young male and female golfers can compete.

Overcoming the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic last season, the Tour staged events at Brora and Duff House Royal last August, and joined forces with the Stephen Gallacher, Paul Lawrie and Barrie Douglas Foundations to provide an innovative new Winter Series, which featured tournaments at Macdonald Cardrona and Blairgowrie, with a further event set to take place at Fortrose & Rosemarkie next month.

An exciting summer schedule will see players compete on the likes of Royal Dornoch, Kilspindie, Southerness, Arbroath, Royal Musselburgh, Duff House Royal and Brora, before the Tour’s final at Luffness New in East Lothian on Sunday 5 September. Young Scottish golfers will also be able to compete in other events hosted by the player foundations throughout the season events such as the Paul Lawrie Junior Jug and Stephen Gallacher Foundation Trophy, which complement the Tour’s calendar.

Brendan McKenna, Managing Director at ProDreamUSA, said: “We are very proud to become an official supporter of the Junior Tour, who do a fantastic job in providing top level playing opportunities for junior golfers across the country. This was particularly evident last year when there were no national championships, so the events the Tour did stage gave players some much needed experience at a time when other countries were still competing.

“Having the Stephen Gallacher and Paul Lawrie Foundations also involved in events across Scotland highlights the great work being done by various partners to develop young players in The Home of Golf. It made it an easy decision for ProDreamUSA to invest our support in the Junior Tour and we want to ensure it continues to flourish and provide a great platform for young players to learn and improve.”

“We staged our own Junior Open at Longniddry last October and fully appreciate the hard work that goes into running these events. Paul Gibson and his team are all volunteers, and we want to do what we can to help them and continue to elevate the profile of the Tour and the quality of the events.”

Paul Gibson, who heads up the Junior Tour’s team, added: “We are delighted to have ProDreamUSA on board with the Tour and we are very grateful for their support. They are very passionate about junior golf and understand the importance of our events. We have some fantastic young players coming through in Scotland who will hopefully go onto achieve great things as future internationalists, college golfers and ultimately Tour professionals, and all our partners are working together to give those players the best opportunity to fulfil their potential.”

ProDreamUSA will also be supporting the inaugural Pollok Junior Masters in Glasgow, which is taking place on June 24-25, while the next event on the combined Winter Series schedule is at Fortrose & Rosemarkie in the Highlands on March 14, subject to Covid-19 travel restrictions being eased.
