Gary Player, three times Open Champion, appeared at the Golphinforkids festival at The Fairmont Resort to lend a helping hand to kids’ golf.

The event, organised and sponsored by the Ayrshire based business was designed to inspire kids during the week of The Open Championship at St Andrews.

Kids from local communities around Fife were joined by kids from China, America and other parts of the UK. This included kids golfing sensations Tommy Morrissey and Jack Dirkin. Tommy and Jack are both benefiting greatly from learning to play golf with the award winning clubs designed and developed in Scotland, the Home of Golf.

The products are so highly regarded, golf’s governing body, The R&A, chose the Golphinforkids products to be used, exclusively, at The Open Championship Swingzone.

Duncan Weir, Executive Director of The R&A said, “The high quality and versatile golphinforkids kit is very impressive. It is certainly well geared for getting youngsters into golf and helping to address the undoubted participation issues the sport is currently facing here in Great Britain and Ireland.

“Getting youngsters interested in playing sport is admirable and, within golf, many people are doing their very best. One such example is Calum McPherson, whose golphinforkids product range is making a significant impact. The R&A purchased some of his kit and it has proved very popular.”

In a week where Jordan Spieth and Ricky Fowler are amongst the favourites to lift golfs ultimate prize, the USA were also well represented at the golphinforkids event. Tommy Morrissey , the one armed 4 year old golfing sensation from Florida, entertained the kids with his special brand of trick shots. Tommy’s dad Joe, commented “It’s fantastic to be here in St Andrews, not only to experience The Open, but to be involved in an awesome kids golf event. We are so impressed with what Golphinforkids are doing to inspire kids to be all they can be.”

Calum McPherson, golphinforkids founder, says “Having Gary Player pop over to meet the kids at our event was a great privilege and an honour.”

Golphinforkids clubs are grouped in age and height brackets 3-5 (39-47″), 6-8 (47-53″) and 9-11 (53″-58″). Clubs are available individually and sets include a driver, 7 iron, putter and ‘swedger’ – a super-forgiving wedge – along with a bag and Dolphin driver headcover.

The branding has a strong affiliation with dolphins to present a fun, friendly image to the kids.
