Faldo Series returns in July

10.14am 30th June 2020 - Growing the Game

The 2020 Faldo Series is making a much-anticipated return after lockdown by welcoming the biggest ever field at an event in its history, kicking off at The Melbourne Club at Brocket Hall for the England South II Boys & England Girls Championship.

The delayed Series Europe 2020 schedule will begin at the Hertfordshire venue from July 6-8, when a record-breaking field of 156 juniors will begin the qualification process to win a place at the 24th Faldo Series Europe Grand Final, which will take place at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club in Abu Dhabi from November 23-25.

Brocket Hall’s Melbourne Course will host the first qualifier from July 6-8

This first Faldo Series Europe Qualifier will be held over three days on Brocket Hall’s Melbourne Course, a championship design by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark.

Following one of the most successful Faldo Series Europe seasons to date in 2019, concluded by a dramatic 8-under final round finish by rising English star Arron Edwards-Hill, this year’s all-star return sets up another epic summer of golf for the junior competitors.

The revised schedule for the Series in Europe will see the following events being played across July and August.

Sir Nick Faldo, Founder of the Faldo Series, said: “It’s amazing to be back, especially with such great enthusiasm from our players to get back and play competitive golf. Given the circumstances we’ve experienced this year, the Series is proud to be able host events again and with our most competitive fields and record numbers, it is very promising for the future of the game.

Brocket Hall always delivers a fantastic experience for the Series players, and to be back here and launching the start of the 24th Faldo Series is pretty special. This event will always be remembered for very different reasons, in particular as it marks our biggest ever field at an event and we can’t wait to see some great golf unfold over the coming days.”

The Faldo Series team have gone above and beyond to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all players and staff at each event will remain uncompromised. Over recent weeks the Series team have been working closely with its venues, The R&A, England Golf, GUI, ILGU and Scotland Golf to ensure each event on the updated schedule will closely align with the guidelines and social distancing measures in place under government regulations.
