Local Government support for Première Golf

11.00am 25th September 2001 - Exhibitions & Conferences

The organisers of Première Golf 2001, scheduled to open at the Marbella Congress Palace on November 13, having been working closely with the Adalusian Golf Federation, Tourismo Adaluz, the Costa del Sol Tourist Board and the Municipal Government of Marbella. Already their concerted efforts are paying off with the exhibition attracting record interest from exhibitors, trade buying groups and other visitors.
“We are delighted to support Première Golf 2001 and hope that it will continue to go from strength to strength,” said Lynn Mitchell, marketing director Costa Del Sol Tourist Board. “The game of golf plays an important part in our local economy here on the Costa del Sol and so it is entirely appropriate that we should be lending our support to a golf exhibition of this magnitude.
“We hope that all our visitors find Première Golf 2001 to their liking and also find time to sample some of the other attractions that the area around Marbella has on offer.”
This year’s show is already guaranteed to be much larger than the inaugural Première Golf 2000 show held in the same venue last November.
This year 65% more exhibition space has been made available and already 85% of that space has been sold out with almost all of last year’s exhibitors signing up alongside new exhibitors such as Ping, Wilson, Sunderland of Scotland, Cutter and Buck, Srixon, One-on-One with Greg Norman, Refit Golf and Izzo.
Première Golf 2001 will also have a distinct international flavour to it because it has attracted exhibitors from as far afield as France, Spain, Germany, the UK, the USA, Denmark, Holland, Taiwan, Italy, Sweden, Ireland and Switzerland.
“We are delighted that the likes of Tourismo Andaluz, the Costa del Sol Tourist Board and the Municipal Government of Marbella have been so supportive and equally delighted about the level of interest that Première Golf 2001 has been attracting from exhibitors, buying groups and other visitors,” said Robert Fairbairn, event director.
“What we wanted when we set up Première Golf 2000 was to create a show that was not only successful on a business level but also gave visitors the chance to relax, talk to each other and enjoy a bit of golf.
“We feel we have done a great deal to achieve that goal but will continue to develop things to make each successive show better than the previous one.”
With that in mind, this year, for the first time, the Première Golf 2001 organisers have enlisted the services of Gullivers Sports Travel as the show’s official travel agent and that company is offering a series of special packages, including flights and hotel accommodation in the area (see contact numbers below).
In addition, within the Marbella Congress Palace itself, additional areas have been opened up to accommodate record interest from exhibitors, catering services have been upgraded and shuttle services improved.
Première Golf 2001, which is owned by Reed Exhibition Companies, the company that stages the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, starts on Tuesday November 13 and runs on to Thursday, November 15. The following day exhibitors and buyers are invited to take part in a number of golf events arranged at a number of courses in the area.
