Brian Curley will step into the limelight at next month’s China Golf Show/PGA Merchandise Show China.
Curley, Principal at award-winning golf course architects Schmidt-Curley Design, will share his incomparable knowledge during a panel session at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing from 14-16 March.
Curley is part of a high-powered five-man panel that has been tasked with debating the topic: ‘Do it Right the First Time: The Importance of Proper Golf Course Construction and Design.’
“It’s always an honour to be invited to speak at these educational-style gatherings,” said Curley. “It’s a reflection of the good work we have done in China over the course of the past 17 years.”
Billed as ‘The Most Prominent Platform for Golf Course Education in Asia’, the education seminars are hosted by the GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America), GCBAA (Golf Course Builders Association of America) and ASGCA (American Society of Golf Course Architects).
The education seminars are targeted at golf course professionals including general managers, course superintendents, greenkeepers and turfgrass managers.
“The objective is to assist in achieving operational efficiency and to provide an understanding of the challenges that arise in Asian golf course management,” said a spokesman for the event organisers.
Co-founded by Lee Schmidt and Curley in 1997, Schmidt-Curley has designed more than 150 layouts in 25 countries with 80 courses across the Asia-Pacific region. Schmidt will assume the role as President of the ASGCA this year.
Meanwhile, Schmidt-Curley Design will be among more than 450 exhibitors at the China Golf Show.
Stretching out over 32,000 square metres of floor space, the China Golf Show/PGA Merchandise Show is endorsed by the China Golf Association, PGA of America, GCSAA, GCBAA and ASGCA, among other leading associations.
Organisers are predicting some 20,000 unique attendees.
