Golf & Nature Live webcast set to inspire the industry to protect the game’s natural heritage

Webcast set to bring together leading voices from across the golf industry to share insights, ideas, and practical solutions for enhancing biodiversity on golf courses.

Golf clubs and industry professionals around the world are being invited to take part in Golf & Nature Live, St Andrews – an online webcast celebrating the powerful relationship between golf and the natural environment.

Hosted by Sky Sports News presenter David Garrido, the live broadcast will take place at 3pm (BST) on May 21, bringing together leading voices from across the sport to share insights, ideas, and practical solutions for enhancing biodiversity on golf courses.

The webcast is designed for anyone working at the intersection of golf and the environment, including course managers, greenkeepers, agronomists and golf course architects, as well as national golf federations, nature charities, ecologists and conservation professionals.

Golf courses occupy vast areas of land that are often home to diverse and protected ecosystems. This event will shine a spotlight on the important role clubs and industry professionals play in safeguarding these environments, while also demonstrating how sustainability can enhance the future of the game.

The webcast will feature a wide range of expert speakers, including:

  • I.K. Kim – past champion of the AIG Women’s Open Champion
  • Richard Windows – Assistant Director, Sustainable Agronomy Services, The R&A
  • Sophie Olejnik – Ecological Consultant, Oleo Ecology
  • Alexander Damkær Hansen – Biodiversity Project Manager, Danish Golf Union
  • Lauren Edwards – Assistant Clubhouse Manager and Biodiversity Champion, Royal Porthcawl Golf Club

Together, they will share real-world experiences and practical approaches to integrating nature into golf course management. A live Q&A session will also give webcast attendees the chance to put questions directly to the expert panel.

The event follows the success of The R&A and the French Golf Federation’s Fairways to Nature Conference held in Paris in 2025, continuing the conversation around sustainability in golf.

“It’s so important to recognise and celebrate the individuals and initiatives having a positive impact on golf and nature,” says John Kemp, Assistant Director – Sustainable Golf Development at The R&A. “The natural habitats where the sport is played are home to countless protected and iconic species, and we all have a duty to protect them. Golf & Nature Live, St Andrews will bring together various experts to highlight and inspire what the sport is doing and will continue to do so that nature always has a home on the course.”

Golf clubs, organisations and individuals are encouraged to register and share the opportunity with colleagues at www.golfandnaturelive.com. For those unable to attend live, the session will be recorded and available on-demand – ensuring no one misses out.
