Course Architect Martin Hawtree says that the second Trump course near Aberdeen will be ‘a different style of challenge, a little more open and relaxed’ while ‘some holes to the south as equally spectacular as anything in the first’.
Donald Trump, along with Donald Trump Junior and other members of his team, was in Scotland last to announce more details of the second course at Trump International Golf Links, Balmedie near Aberdeen, to be known as ‘The Mary MacLeod Course’ in homour of his late mother.
Pointing out that only six of the 18 holes would be within the coastal dune system – where most of the main championship course has been laid out – and would be mainly built on agricultural land to the south of the main links course, Mr Trump said: “None of it is protected territory in terms of SSSI and it should go, and has been going, very smoothly.”
Dr Martin Hawtree told GBN.com, “Mr Trump’s instructions to me are to build the second best course in the world! We hope to get the planning application in by late August and that work can start in the New Year. We are all very excited about the project.”
Mr Trump has made it clear that he will not proceed with his plans for a luxury hotel at the resort until plans for the eleven turbine offshore wind farm – the £230 million offshore European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre – in AberdeenBay are finally abandoned.
