Troon Golf, ® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is delighted to announce that Rostov, and Don Golf & Country Club have been awarded the coveted title of “Best Region for Golf Development”. The significance of this award not only demonstrates the new found interest in golf in Russia, but also illustrates the propensity and appetite for growth in the region of Rostov and Russia as a whole.

“Rostov District Golf Federation and Don Golf & Country Club have been early movers in attracting new investors and golfers to the region, and this award illustrates their success in achieving such a distinguished position in Russia. Both should be commended for their vision and commitment, which continues to position Rostov as a desired year-round golf region,” commented Bruce Glasco, Managing Director, Troon Golf Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The Russian Golf Association introduced the “Russian Annual Golf Awards” in 2005 with the purpose of identifying and recognising companies, organisations, players, and initiatives that have promoted the good of the game, resulting in the recent escalation of interest in golf in Russia.

With full support of key regional authorities, Rostov District Golf Federation and Don Golf & Country Club have created a hub that will attract new developers and should see the region become the centre of mass golf development. The inclusion of golf in the Olympics has also accelerated the wider interest in the game, with Rostov and Don Golf & Country Club being earmarked as a training base for Russian golfers, providing the foundation required to ensure their participation at the 2016 Olympics.

Located in a destination enriched with history, culture and age-old traditions, Don Golf & Country Club near Rostov-on-Don in the historic town of Stanitsa Starocherkasskaya was designed by German architect Volker Puschel.

The course has been praised for maintaining the environmental and cultural considerations of the area by seamlessly blending into the natural surroundings of the ethnographic reserve. Don Golf & Country Club is also home to the first Golf academy in southern Russia, making it the ideal location for families and an excellent golfing experience.
