Tiger’s first course design to open in 2009

8.00am 8th August 2007 - Course Development - This story was updated on Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Development has started at Tiger Woods Dubai, the residential golf community and resort in Dubailand that will include Al Ruwaya, the first course designed by Woods.
When questioned at Carnoustie by Golf Business News.com about his plans for the course Tiger said, “We’re excited about that one. That’s my first course design, there in Dubai. We are working on other potential sites around the world but right now this has been a very testing job. There’s been a lot of different things that we’ve had to work out just because of the location of it.

“I’ve been looking forward to it, I really have. I’ve picked brains from all the architects throughout my years on Tour It’s really helped to have that information going in because I have certainly needed it since we got under way.”

The dramatic 18-hole course will be the focal point of a golf academy, clubhouse, 89 suite boutique hotel and 197 residences. The complex is expected to open in September 2009.
