Costa Navarino The Bay Course

One of the world’s most exciting new golf destinations is set to unveil The Bay Course, designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. this October.

Troon Golf has announced the historic opening of The Bay Course in the Greek region of Messinia, in south westPeloponnese.. The new Championship course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., will be a significant attraction at this prime Mediterranean destination, Costa Navarino.

Already established as one of the world’s most exciting new golf destinations with the early success of the Bernard Langer designed Dunes Course, Costa Navarino’s newest eighteen holes is being met with much anticipation. Early indications would suggest Greece’s latest golf course will once again turn the world’s media attention on to the destination when it is unveiled to the public next month. Trent Jones Jr’s design and the neighbouring Dunes Course will combine to create one of world golf’s most sought after experiences, which under the watchful eye of the Troon Golf experts will set the standard in quality and service.

“Costa Navarino has fast-become one of the finest golf properties anywhere in the world and the opening of The Bay Course is a major milestone in realising the vision for the region. Both courses are visibly stunning and the conditioning will be kept at a premium level, thanks to the dedicated Troon Golf experts that have been tasked with maintaining our impeccably high-standards,” commented Bruce Glasco, Managing Director Troon Golf EMEA. “Costa Navarino will play an important role in golf’s development inGreece, significantly aiding its progression as an emerging golfing power, due to the complete nature of both its golf and leisure facilities.”

Overlooking the historic bay of Navarino and the town of Pylos, The Bay Course has been cleverly laid out to make the most of the spectacular panoramic sea and mountain views. Its proximity to the sea means that several holes run strikingly close to the bay, but its diversity is evident as it moves inland to interchange between canyons and olive groves. The layout of each hole places a premium on accuracy and course management, complementing the existing Dunes Course to ensure that the courses are suitably challenging for players of all ability. Extensive practice facilities and coaching sessions will be soon available on-site, demonstrating its capability to host full-service groups and tournament golf.

“The Bay Course is sculpted out of the earth and rock of Greek soil, much like the marble statues of the ancients. Those deities were noble and graceful, and the golf course now reflects the same sense of beauty. This golf experience will last the test of time, to be loved and enjoyed through all the senses by those who come to play the golf course,” commented legendary golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones Jr.

Sitting proudly on the Mediterranean coastline, spectacular views are a feature throughout Costa Navarino. The exceptional year-round climate can be enjoyed at the luxurious hotels, The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort and The Westin Resort, both 5-star Starwood Hotels, as well as in all other facilities at Navarino Dunes, Costa Navarino’s first area. Much like The Dunes Course, designed by golfing legend Bernhard Langer and European Golf Design, The Bay Course has followed strict environmental protection guidelines, in order to achieve sustainable golf course management.
