New 18 hole course for Hertfordshire

9.00am 26th September 2001 - Course Development

Earlrose Golf Leisure Ltd has retained the services of Leisure Links International Ltd to assist Earlrose with the development of their strategically located 185 acre site, which is by the A4147, equidistant from Hemel Hempstead and St. Albans. Plans call for the development of an 18-hole, par 72 championship length undulating golf course, well-appointed golf clubhouse and maintenance compound on a site that is ideally suited to hosting a first class golf club facility.

The course design has been a collaboration between Bill Mylward from Earlrose and David Scragg Associates. The plan is to open a loop of no less than 9 holes in May 2003 with the full 18 holes playable in May 2004.

“We are delighted to have retained the services of LLI,” said Bill Mylward. “Their experience and expertise in the development and management of golf club properties will ensure that the development will attain the high standards that we have planned. Their first task is to assist us with the development of the club concept and strategic development plan. Simultaneously, LLI have already commenced providing us with the appropriate level of course maintenance work on those holes that have been shaped and now grassed. LLI’s appointment is a clear demonstration of Earlrose’s commitment to developing a premier golf facility for the local community.”

“LLI is well placed to assist Earlrose’s executive management team in developing an outstanding golf facility. They are committed to ensuring that not only does the course and its attendant facilities compliment each other but that, at all stages of Earlrose’s development, the highest standards are applied through professional management. Needless to say we are delighted to be part of the professional team working with Earlrose,” stated Jonathan Talbot-Weiss for LLI, a leading owner and operator of golf clubs whose most recent acquisition was Test Valley Golf Club in Hampshire.

Leisure Links directors, Jonathan Talbot-Weiss and Geoffrey Legouix, were formerly senior executives with Clubhaus Plc. Between them they have over 45 years experience in the management and marketing of golf clubs. LLI also specialises in providing management services to the golf industry.
