Modena to host 20th renewal of the Alps Tour Grand Final

12.26pm 16th September 2021 - Course Development

The Alps Tour‘s 20th Grand Final is to be played at Modena Golf & Country Club in Italy, where the top 50 professionals in the Order of Merit and those amateurs ranked within the top 50, will compete from October 14-16 to determine the overall winner of the 2021 season.

Modena, which hosted the Italian Open in 1993, was one of the first stops in the schedule of the Alps Tour when it first started in 2001, and is therefore the ideal place to stage the 20th anniversary final.

Located in Emilia Romagna in the heart of Italy, a world-renowned region for some of the most well-known Italian culinary delights, and just a handful of kilometres from Maranello and the Ferrari supercars factory, Modena’s parkland course was designed by Bernhard Langer and first opened in 1990. Characterised by wide greens and fairways, the Langer course is surrounded by five lakes and numerous bunkers which make it a fun and technical course.

Alberto Caselli, President of Modena Golf, said: “On behalf of the members of the Modena Golf & Country Club, I would like to thank the Alps Tour for choosing our club as a venue for the Emilia Romagna Alps Tour Grand Final in what is such a special year for the tour.

“A deserved thanks, in addition to all the sponsors, goes to the Emilia Romagna region for supporting the event and pursuing its tradition of particular attention to high-level competitive events, as well as to the promotion of the excellences of the region– and there are so many. I am sure that the 20th Grand Final will honour Modena, just as I am certain of the commitment of the Modena Golf & Country Club for the success in the organisation of this event.”

Marco Durante, President of the Alps Tour Golf Association, commented: “Modena Golf & Country Club was one of the very first venues for an Alps Tour event back in year 2001. fter twenty years of continuous service to the raising of young golf stars, we are very happy to return to Modena for the special celebrations of the Grand Final. We are very thankful to the Italian Golf Federation and to Modena Golf & Country Club for their unwavering support.”
