Malahide members agree to revamp of Red Nine

8.05am 11th August 2009 - Course Development

At a recent EGM the members of Malahide Golf Club, Dublin, voted overwhelmingly to revamp the 27 Hole facility’s Red Nine Course.

The attendees of the EGM were presented with the Jeff Howes Golf Design plans in a video style format with the proposed changes to the individual holes shown in 3D using the company’s latest “Helicopter Fly-by” technology.

This 2nd phase of the redevelopment of this original Eddie Hackett course is planned to commence in August 2009 and should take circa 4 – 6 weeks to complete.

The proposed  redevelopment works are extensive and involve the redesign of four greens’ surrounds, the construction of four new greens and three new tees complexes, the addition of ten fairway bunker complexes, the remodelling of two of the existing lakes and the construction of two new lakes, a stream and a boardwalk.

The Club is currently reviewing the submitted tenders and is due to appoint a contractor shortly.

The previously remodelled Blue Nine Course opened to a great response from the members in 2008 and the 2nd phase Red Nine Course should be ready for play in the Spring of 2010.

Jeff Howes Golf Design was established in 1991. The company, which is based in Kilkenny, Ireland, employs a highly qualified team of experts who are members of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA).
