Harradine To Build New Golf Course In Islamabad

11.44am 9th November 2018 - Course Development

Golf course architects Harradine Golf have been awarded the design and construction supervision of a new 18-hole golf course for the Capital Smart City in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Islamabad Capital Smart City will be mixed-used development featuring residential, retail, commercial, entertainment and hospitality components located a five-minute drive from Islamabad’s new international airport and on the main road connecting Pakistan’s capital with Lahore. It will be the first smart city to be built in Pakistan and 23rd in the world.

Peter Harradine said that the proposed sit for the golf course is one of the most beautiful and challenging sites the team has ever worked on. He said: “The design of the golf course, and the zoning of the real estate, will be a considerable challenge due to the many small valleys and frequent elevation changes. This feature will ensure a unique course, especially as the terrain is rugged, with level differences of up to 30 metres.”

Harradine Golf’s commission for the golf resort also includes the location of the clubhouse and zoning of the real estate and internal roads.

He added: “I expect the usual battle between the client and the golf course architect regarding the areas required for housing, but they have assured us that the safety of property dwellers is of prime importance.”

Construction of the course is scheduled to start in January, with a programmed completion date by the end of 2019.
