11.43am 21st June 2013 - Course Development

GC Heelsum

Heelsum Golf Club, near Arnhem, The Netherlands underwent a complete bunker, concept and landscape renovation almost two years ago.

Golf Course Architect Steve Marnoch and his company golfmarnoch masterminded the changes and the results have transformed this former forgettable golf course into what is being hailed as a modern heathland classic.

The bunker renovation and landscape have imparted a new playing strategy which is being enjoyed by members and visitors alike with the club now being voted into the top twenties in Holland by visiting golfers.

Steve Marnoch has been retained by the club for a 7 year period as the ‘Guardian of the Concept’ to ensure that the course maintained in such a way to promote this heathland style of golf and advise the Club Board on how to manage the course without losing the heathland identity and concept of pure golf.

Now the club are announcing the 1st Annual ‘Airborne Open’ Golf Tournament in September 2013 to ‘respectfully’ tie in the history of the Airborne drop sites used in Operation Market Garden as these site are on the current 27 hole golf course.
