Camiral has unveiled a €7 million upgrade of its two courses as Spain’s no.1 golf resort continues the countdown to The 2031 Ryder Cup.

The reopening of the enhanced courses and the introduction of personalised services and VIP packages at the five-star Hotel Camiral comes as a growing wave of travellers from North America choose Barcelona, Costa Brava and Catalonia for luxury breaks.

Official figures for 2025 reveal among international travellers to Barcelona, there were more visitors from the United States than any other nationality, with the airport and port welcoming record numbers of airline and cruise ship passengers, discovering the city and wider region.

The reopening of the European Tour Destination’s two courses, with enhanced playability and sustainability, comes as a new short film is broadcast documenting Camiral’s countdown to the world’s greatest golf match.

The film features Director of Golf Flavio Papa and Golf Course Superintendent Alfredo Álvarez, who have overseen enhancements on both the Stadium Course and Tour Course, including the switch to warm season Bermuda grass, maintaining world-class conditioning while reducing water consumption by 33%.

New machinery and technology have also been deployed across the courses – both of which are rated among the top 10 golf courses in Spain by Golf Digest – with the greenkeeping team expanded from 35 to 50.

Off-course, a new golf customer services manager, Albert Guerrero, has been appointed to elevate day-to-day golfer experiences and support new VIP packages.

David Plana, CEO of Camiral, said: “As the 2031 Ryder Cup venue, we continue to invest in our world-class courses, presenting tournament quality standards all year round, while achieving the sustainability objectives at the heart of our business.

“As we welcome increasing numbers of guests from North America and around the world, we have also introduced important new personalised services and VIP golf packages, creating a seamless experience between our five-star Hotel Camiral, our clubhouse and two courses. We invite and look forward to welcoming all discerning golf travellers to Camiral over the coming years, before, during and after The Ryder Cup.”

Set across a 550-hectare estate, just outside the culinary capital of Girona and one hour from Barcelona, Camiral is home to the five-star Hotel Camiral, a member of The Leading Hotels of The World, and the four-star Lavida.

Beyond the fairways, the resort offers an array of sport and leisure facilities, including a state-of-the-art Wellness Centre, five on-site dining options, the seasonal Origin fine dining restaurant, and the reimagined Camiral Bistro.
