Leading irrigation pump system manufacturer Flowtronex Europe has installed its first pumping system in Spain.
The greens and fairways of Mijas Golf International, the Costa del Sol’s premier golfing complex, will be the first in Spain to benefit from Flowtronex Europe’s advanced pumping and irrigation technology.
The new system is a key element in a major four year refurbishment and upgrading programme on the 36-hole course which also involved the replacing of turf, irrigation sprinkler heads and piping.
Designed specifically for the demands of one of Europe’s largest and busiest golfing locations, the pump system consists of three deep well turbine pumps and incorporates cutting edge electronics and software technology with a variable frequency drive (VFD), remote monitoring and trouble-shooting capabilities.
Smoothflow and Pumplog, Flowtronex Europe’s control and monitoring software, have been included to allow the system to be closely monitored either on site of from anywhere in the world by way of a computer and a phone line.
A fault and intruder alarm called “Hotwire” has also been incorporated into the control; panel which dials out to a designated pager service in the event of a problem.
“This is the Rolls Royce of pump stations – the very best that money can buy,” says European Sales Manager, Kevin Shaw.
Mijas is situated in Fuengirola near Malaga and consists of two high-class 18-hole courses, Los Olivos and Los Lagos. Between them they account for over 125,000 rounds of golf every year. Mijas Golf International’s Managing Director Michael Lovett is delighted to have the first Spanish golf course with advanced Flowtronex technology. “ We are always striving for excellence. The condition and appearance of the course is crucial and the pumping system is the most important aspect of the whole refurbishment project. Our consultants advised us that Flowtronex are the best in the business.”
