The Owners of Espiche Golf, situated close to Lagos in the Western Algarve, announce the appointment of Braemar Golf & Legendary Marketing to help us “raise the bar” for Espiche Golf.
Located in the picturesque Western Algarve, minutes from the ocean and just outside the beautiful town of Lagos, Espiche offers a fun and challenging golf course where nature abounds. With a new clubhouse due to open for the 2014 season, the owners’ believe it is the right time for a more professional and experienced approach to the operation.
Mr. Peter Thornton, one of the project’s owners commented, “after a long development process we now have a great golf facility but it was time to bring in a more professional approach to the golf business and we were very impressed with both Braemar Golf and Legendary Marketing and felt a combined effort would create a really dynamic approach. I am delighted the two companies are working on the project in a seamless manner for us”.
This is the first of a number of investments in both human resources as well as in the facilities. Plans are already in place to strengthen the management team in the coming weeks and additional investment is also underway to ensure the quality of the golf course, services and improved marketing.

Espiche Golf includes an 18 hole course opened in 2012 and clubhouse due to open in the near future.
It is set in an Ecological Reserve providing a great golfing experience within a stunning natural environment. Golf course architect Peter Sauerman sympathetically designed the course to integrate into the surrounding scenery. The real estate element is still to be developed but sits separate to the golfing land which will always retain its unspoilt and natural character.
The 18-hole, par 72 course offers superb rolling terrain that blends into the Algarve landscape. Its lakes, streams and indigenous planting add to the enrichment and biodiversity of the area. The course is surrounded by beautiful open countryside, trading the typical Portuguese golf experience of hotels and high rises for vineyards and views of the MonchiqueMountains in the distance. 5,862 meters (6,411 yards) from the back tees and several other options make the course enjoyable for the casual and serious golfer alike.
The clubhouse, now in its final stages of construction, is being built into the hillside, on the site of an old Algarvian farm house. The stone from the original building is being used in the lower walls of the outer structure to maintain its sense of history. The unique design by architect, Nadine Berger, provides terraces and lounges on two levels, a restaurant and bar area, inner patio garden, changing rooms and a reception area with golf shop. The delightful panoramic views across the entire course and surrounding landscape will provide the ideal location for that end of round refreshment as well as for weddings, banquets and celebrations of all kinds.
