Staff at Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire are celebrating after picking up the trophy for ‘England’s Best Golf Hotel’ at the annual World Golf Awards held at La Manga Club in Spain last week.
Hamish Ferguson, general manager at the Chester-based resort (pictured right), said: “To win an award recognised around the world is a massive accomplishment for the team and testament to the hard work they complete throughout the year. We offer the complete golfing package at Carden Park, and continually invest in our golf courses, ensuring we always offer the highest standards to our guests whether they are playing a golf game, enjoying a golf day or visiting for a golf break.”
The Cheshire course, one of two at the venue, opened in 1993 and pre-dates the hotel by four years. The championship course, which has been used to host pre-qualifying events for the European Tour, has recently benefitted from a £80,000 bunker renovation programme. The second course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and his son Steve and is perfect for every level of golfer.
Contributing to the award were the amenities that are available outside of the golf course, including 198 newly-renovated guestrooms and the AA rosette-winning Redmond’s restaurant, which serves Carden Park Estate Reserve wine (the grapes are grown onsite within the three-acre vineyard). The hotel is set to open a brand new spa next summer.
