Abu Dhabi Golf Club is set to unveil a new look interior to its famous Falcon Clubhouse in November, marking the first stage of a number of scheduled enhancements taking place at the famous UAE-based tour venue.

The iconic building, which sits behind the ninth and 18th greens of the National Course, has provided the backdrop to numerous European Tour events stretching back to 2006. Abu Dhabi Golf Club is set to host the 2021 Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship from November 10-13, when members, guests and players will be able to see the renovated clubhouse for themselves.

Built in 2000, the falcon design of the clubhouse pays homage to the national bird of the United Arab Emirates and recognises the importance of falconry in Arab tradition and culture.

Owned by Abu Dhabi-based Tourism Development & Investment Company and managed by Troon, the club is now led by Club Operations Manager Andrea Faldella, who started his new role at the beginning of August following six years at The Els Club in Dubai, where he had been Director of Golf since 2019.

Faldella commented: “We are excited to showcase our newly upgraded clubhouse to the members, guests, and some of the world’s greatest female amateur players. Having been chosen to host the third edition of the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific, we look forward to welcoming all to our stunning new terrace, enlarged golf shop, and our new first floor Falcon Bar.

“The renovation of the clubhouse marks the beginning a range of improvements at the club, with the National Course and the 9-hole floodlit course set for enhancements, along with a new Golf Academy, a redesigned swimming pool area and additional leisure amenities. While doing this, we are also working on our digital transformation, which will complement our vision to deliver the best possible experience to our members and guests.”

He added: “We expect both Abu Dhabi Golf Club and the nearby Westin Hotel to benefit from the numerous upgrades, while continuously driving international awareness to one of the most iconic resorts in the Middle East.”

Mark Chapleski, Executive Vice-President of Troon International, added: “We are very enthused about the relaunch of the famed Falcon Clubhouse. I must commend the new ownership, who has invested and enhanced our offerings at the club. It is exciting times ahead at Abu Dhabi Golf Club as an already fantastic facility becomes even better.”
