Trump Turnberry appoints new business development managers

3.22pm 22nd February 2024 - Corporate

Trump Turnberry has strengthened its golf management staff by appointing two new golf business development managers to help grow the Scottish venue’s business in both domestic and international markets.

Debbie MacMillan has taken up the post of International Golf Business Development Manager, working closely with overseas venues and tour operators to connect an international audience with Turnberry’s golf offering, headlined by the Ailsa course and King Robert the Bruce course.

MacMillan will also play a key role in overseeing the Ailsa Club Founding Fifty, the range of premium membership options launched by Trump Turnberry last year. Designed to deliver the ultimate Turnberry experience, the Ailsa Club boasts an array of exclusive perks and benefits – including access to the luxurious Ailsa Club Private Lounge.

Another coveted benefit of the Ailsa Club is a membership reciprocity system that gives members access to 18 Trump Golf properties from across the globe, including the acclaimed Trump National Doral and Trump National Golf Club in Washington DC – an area in which MacMillan’s experience will be indispensable.

The appointment marks a welcome return to the golf industry for MacMillan, who had previously worked as a golf tour operator before stepping into senior management.

“Trump Turnberry never fails to deliver on and off the course and I am delighted to be here,” MacMillan said. “I have been lucky enough to have been a guest here on a number of occasions and there have been many changes over those years, but the resort just keeps getting better!”

Meanwhile, Roddy Barker takes on the role of Golf Business Development Manager. His key duties will include delivery of Trump Turnberry’s corporate golf days and the Ailsa Club’s new corporate membership offering.

Barker brings over two decades of leadership experience, including as founder and managing director of his own Glasgow-based sales and marketing company.

“This is an incredible place with a great history, and I am honoured to have been given this opportunity,” Barker said. “I feel that I have arrived at a particularly exciting time for the resort, with the introduction of the Ailsa Club last year, so there are endless possibilities to keep growing and improving the experience for our guests.”

Nic Oldham, Director of Sales and Marketing at Trump Turnberry, said: “The appointments of Debbie and Roddy will really strengthen our team as we look to build towards a strong 2024. Both will play a key role in helping to drive our premium memberships and corporate golf offerings.”
