Textron launches Internet-based parts ordering system

12.05am 11th September 2000 - Corporate

The site – www.textronturfdirect.com – goes live today and focuses on Textron’s Quick Reference Parts Catalogue. Customers can order parts direct from Textron without the need to go through the dealer network. For the moment the service is limited to UK customers only but this will change in due course.

After registering to use the service customers access the dedicated web site using a unique password and either enter the part number, if known, or identify and select the part through a series of diagrams displayed on the computer screen.

Payment is made by credit card and there are two delivery options: parts ordered by 3 p.m. can be delivered by 10 a.m. on the following working day while the standard delivery is within three or four working days.

David Brown, international parts manager at Textron, commented, “We have introduced this new process as part of our continuing commitment to e-commerce. The service will enable us to react extremely quickly to customer demands.”

Textron has assured its dealers that they will not lose out as a result of the new system.
